Job Description Summary
Supports microscopy related research and teaching in the Microscopic Imaging Core of Wake Forest University Biology by assisting the Director of Microscopy.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
– Trains new users and assists in utilization of microscopes and related equipment.
– Maintains microscopes and related equipment in a clean and highly operational state.
– Communicates an excitement about imaging-related science to new students and visitors.
– Facilitates scheduling of equipment use and related record keeping/reporting.
– Reports to and coordinates overall activities with the microscopy director.
– Assists the director in other microscopy facility related directives as assigned.
– Assists undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty with design and implementation of experimental protocols related to microscopy by understanding research goals and needs of individual facility users.
Additional Job Description
Accountabilities:
– Responsible for own work.
– Provides training and assists in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate student researchers.
– Reports activities and problems to the facility director.
Physical Requirements:
– Sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
– Ability to travel 7 miles between Innovation Quarter and main Reynolda campus (university shuttle or personal car)
