Summary
Elephas, a Madison, WI-based biotechnology start-up company, seeks a talented individual to join our team as a Software Engineer specializing in fluorescence microscopy, multi-photon or Optical Coherence Microscopy (OCM) microscopes for biological applications. Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be a skilled and experienced software engineer who will contribute to developing, optimizing, and validating Elephas’ cancer diagnostics platform.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
– Develop and optimize image analysis, signal processing and visualization solutions for combining multi-photon, OCT/OCM, slide scanning, and widefield microscopes used in biological imaging.
– Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to understand and translate system requirements into efficient and reliable software solutions.
– Analyze and troubleshoot system issues, provide technical support, and propose innovative solutions.
– May assist with control system development (novel development).
– Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in imaging technologies, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
– Follow a regulated software development methodology in an agile environment.

Education/Experience/Skills
– Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a similar field, or applicable industry experience.
– Strong experience with C++ and C, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
– Proficiency in troubleshooting compile-time errors.
– Expertise in multiprocess communications.
– Experience in combining languages, such as using a C++ library in Python or Matlab.
– Proficiency in C# preferred.
– Strong graphics programming skills in DirectX, Vulcan, OpenGL, Metal, or similar.
– Experience with time-lapse animation or gaming interface and design is preferred.
– Proficiency in image analysis.
– Experience in high-performance computing.
– Experience coding in a team environment, including version control and code reviews.
– Proficiency with Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems.
– Experience with Matlab, Octave, and R is preferred.
– Strong mathematical skills
– Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
