Data Scientist in Image Analysis

The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is looking for a Data Scientist specialized in Image Analysis to join its Facility for Advanced Imaging and Microscopy.
The facility supports FMI scientists and collaborators by providing cutting-edge light and electron microscopy, high-content screening, image analysis, and spatial-transcriptomics services to address fundamental questions of biomedical relevance.
In this role, you will
– Develop and implement image-processing and analysis workflows for a broad spectrum of research projects across multiple groups.
– Assess the image processing and analysis needs of microscopy-based research projects.
– Design FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reproducible) processing pipelines.
– Communicate results to a diverse audience of experimental scientists.
About you
– You hold a PhD or MSc in computer science, biomedical-image analysis or a related data-science field.
– You can demonstrate strong programming and data-analysis skills in Python.
– You can demonstrate a solid understanding of machine-learning and deep-learning technologies.
– You thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and are eager to learn from others.
– You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with a diverse group of scientists.
– You are self-motivated and can work both independently and within a team.
Desirable
– You have a proven track record in collaborative software development.
– You are experienced in working within a Linux HPC environment and in data-parallel processing.
– You are familiar with multiple bio-image analysis software tools, such as Fiji, CellProfiler and Napari.
– You have experience in analyzing images from a diverse range of microscopy modalities, including high-content screening, electron microscopy, light-sheet microscopy and confocal microscopy.
