Dr. Michelle Kossack is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Brown University. Her research uses transgenic zebrafish to investigate the effects of environmental chemicals on reproductive health in the ovary. Dr. Kossack earned her PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology at UC Davis where she studied the molecular mechanisms of sex determination in zebrafish. Despite being a popular model for development, the mechanism of sex determination is unknown in laboratory zebrafish. It was this initial work during her PhD, that sparked her love of microscopy in the zebrafish ovary.
