Your Responsibilities

The Imaging & Optics Facility (IOF) provides ‘state of the art’ Microscopy Applications, Flow Cytometry services, custom optical development solutions and Image Analysis Services. The Image Analysis Service (IAS) Team is to guarantee smooth operation of IOF-related services in that field by maintaining the Image Analysis infrastructure and providing service & support to ISTA scientists. As part of this team, you will focus on providing state of the art assistance in image analysis services that include:
– User support and -training with image analysis requests and -projects
– Provide advisory support to researchers for experimental design related to microscopy and image analysis
– Assist in operation and maintenance of specialized image analysis equipment and services
– Take part in establishing and maintaining data-infrastructures, repositories, Research Data Management (+large-data handling) and HPC cluster computing (in collaboration with IT)
– Coordinate and conduct image analysis courses, user trainings, mini-workshops and outreach activities
– Stay “up to date” about newest developments in image analysis and machine learning applications (commercial- and non-commercial)

Your Profile

  • Completed higher education (PHd or MSc) in Life Science, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Several years of relevant work experience in the field (research-group or core facility); previous experience in advanced microscopy methods of advantage
  • Elaborate experience with diverse image analysis techniques and programs – incl. proven use of divers programming libraries
  • In-depth understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning applications
  • Expertise and ‘in-depth insights’ in ‘state of the art’ image analysis requirements, algorithms, cluster computing
  • Strong affinity with automation and hardware control
  • Proficiency in a wide variety of programming languages and image analysis programs (FIJI / Phython / Jupyter / Matlab / other commercial programs)
  • Service-oriented workstyle with high self-motivation and reliability
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical skills and creativity in solving problems
