Job description

We are looking for a Business Developer – High-End Systems Microscopy, motivated by optical microscopy, customer relations, and a taste for commercial challenges, to join our Life-Science & Microscopy team in Finland.

The ideal candidate is passionate, autonomous, rigorous, and enjoys working as part of a team. He/she is fully committed to customer satisfaction. The focus will be on developing and retaining existing customers, as well as generating new prospects by identifying, implementing, and executing new strategies.
 
The main responsibilities are as follows:
1. Create and maintain business contacts and medium-term relationships with customers and prospects in Finland. Carry out a regular program of visits and prospecting.
2. Negotiate commercial terms within predefined limits, and take orders.
3. Work on tenders and prepare technical documentation for tender responses.
4. Define action plans (short- and medium-term objectives) and monitor KPIs (turnover, profit, opportunities, etc.).
5. Identify and generate business development opportunities.
6. Promote sales through presentations and with the support of our experienced Nordic team, demonstrations of Nikon’s microscopy portfolio, including advanced imaging microscope systems such as confocal, multiphoton, TIRF, and super-resolution systems.
7. Train customers on standard and with the support of our experienced Nordic team, advanced imaging microscope systems and provide continuous application support for customers’ microscopy experiments.
8. Work together with our Nordic team to develop, maintain, and manage BergmanLabora’s customer base.

Job requirements

To be successful in this role, the desired profile is as follows:
1. Master’s degree or PhD in biology, chemistry, optics, physics, or a similar field
2. Good knowledge of microscopy products. Knowledge about high-end microscopy systems, advanced imaging, video microscopy, laser applications, confocal, super-resolution and/or image analysis (incl. Python) is merited
3. Strong interest in sales, commercial challenges, and customer relations
4. Ability to define, plan, and work according to priorities and deadlines
5. Fluent in English and Finnish
6. Willingness to travel predominantly throughout Finland
7. Holder of a valid driving license

It is preferable that you have foundations in image analysis and confocal microscopy, as well as a real ability to build relationships with prospects and customers. Potential scientific credibility would allow you to communicate easily with prospects and clients, in order to better understand their current and future needs and to promote the company’s products.

Your enthusiasm for microscopy and imaging, combined with your passion for delivering impactful solutions, will enable you to actively contribute to the company’s market share development, both in acquiring new customers and increasing sales to existing customers.
