The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center provides outstanding Biomedical Research Cores. The HICCC houses 12 core facilities or shared resources that provide services essential to basic and translational cancer research.
The Confocal and Specialized Microscopy Shared Resource (CSMSR) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is seeking an Imaging Scientist at the rank of Associate Research Scientist. 
The CSMSR is a highly rated, well-funded imaging core serving hundreds of research labs at the CUIMC campus as part of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, and has provided confocal and other advanced optical microscopy technologies and expertise for over 25 years. Capabilities include confocal, 2-photon (ex vivo and intravital), light sheet, high-content plate imaging, super-resolution, wide-field, laser capture microdissection, and real-time metabolic analysis. The Imaging Scientist’s primary responsibility will be to work with our diverse user base of basic and clinical scientists to meet their needs for high-performance imaging. This may include training on existing equipment, developing new workflows, or adapting existing methods and analytical approaches, as needed. The Imaging Scientist will also maintain and troubleshoot imaging and computer systems, and assist with purchasing, scheduling, and billing. Opportunities are available for community outreach, workshops, and grant preparation. Collaborative studies and publication are possible for motivated individuals. The Imaging Scientist will report to the Technical Director and Faculty Director.

Qualifications
Minimum Degree Required
– Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific field 

Minimum Qualifications
– Expertise in advanced microscopy, including image acquisition and analysis, and knowledge of imaging technologies and sample preparation methods
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
– Interest in state-of-the-art imaging technology, and in applying this technology to meet the scientific objectives of Shared Resource users
– Experience with light-sheet imaging, intravital imaging, and/or real-time metabolic analysis is desirable, but not required
