Postdoctoral Researcher

The Bioimaging Group at CNPEM is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to investigate the three-dimensional architecture of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) using advanced correlative microscopy approaches.
The project will combine coherent X-ray diffraction imaging (CXDI) at synchrotron facilities with STED super-resolution microscopy, integrating structural and functional information to investigate mitochondrial nucleoids and their organization under different cellular and metabolic conditions.
The researcher will be responsible for developing and optimizing multimodal imaging strategies, sample preparation workflows, image acquisition and quantitative analysis, contributing to the integration of data across imaging modalities.
The position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art microscopy and synchrotron facilities in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment at CNPEM, connecting bioimaging, mitochondrial biology, advanced microscopy and quantitative image analysis.
Requirements:
– PhD in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related fields
– Knowledge of advanced light microscopy (confocal and/or super-resolution microscopy)
– Experience with cell culture
– Advanced English proficiency
Desirable qualifications:
– Experience with synchrotron-based imaging
– Experience in sample preparation for microscopy
– Experience with experiments involving mitochondria and cellular metabolism
