Tejeshwar Rao

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Alexa Mattheyses's laboratory in the Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology division at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My research specifically focuses on discerning the spatio-temporal dynamics of cellular forces generated during adhesion and growth, identifying the underlying signaling cascades governing this mechanical regulation and understanding how these forces directly influence cellular homeostasis and function. My goal is to build a mechanistic framework illustrating the intricate interplay between distinct membrane protein complexes actively governing cellular mechanotransduction. In our laboratory we answer these questions using novel microscopic imaging approaches and innovative mechanobiology tools.
