Postdoc “Roles of cytoplasmic bridges” at Utrecht University

The Chaigne lab at Utrecht University is looking for a postdoc! In the lab, we are interested in how various organisms and cell types exploit the basic building blocks of cell division differently, and how this influences cell fate. The funded project investigate the roles of long-lived cytoplasmic bridges, generated from slow abscission. Two model systems can be used to answer this question: mouse embryonic stem cells, the lab’s core expertise, and choanoflagellates (S. rosetta) which we recently established in the lab. The lab is highly collaborative with model systems, ideas and techniques and you will be expected to be too. There is also flexibility to develop one own’s ideas: we support career development and original career paths. Methods we use include all kinds of microscopy (in particular live, optogenetics, super resolution, expansion), genetic approaches (knock-ins, knock-outs…) and molecular biology.

The job is funded by an ERC starting grant for 1 year initially, and the salary scale is set by the Dutch labour agreement. We are located in the cell biology department of Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
