I started my scientific career studying the germination process of bacterial spores and after a diverse series of postdoc engagements, I set up my lab in Amherst College mentoring undergraduates and studying sea anemone embryonic development. The common themes underlying my research are the study of organismal development and the thrill of microscopy.
