Uruguay

Uruguay boasts a rich history of scientists that pioneered research in areas such as cell biology, namely Clemente Estable, who is known for his work in cellular biology and neurobiology research. He also established Uruguay’s first biological research institute, Instituto de Investigaciones Biologicas Clemente Estable, significantly advancing neuroscience research in Latin America.

Uruguay hosts many institutes that are active contributors and member of the Latin American Bioimaging (LABI) network, which aims to allow imaging scientists across Latin America and the Caribbean to be able to interact, share experiences, and collaborate.

In this blog, we hear from Uruguayan microscopists whose research covers a plethora of microscopy techniques and biological disciplines, including microbiology, parasitology and electron microscopy.
