Role: Head of Product Management for Life Sciences
Location: European location with easy, frequent access to Belfast preferred. Location in Belfast ideal.
Reports to: Director of Product Management
Reporting to the Director of Product Management, The Head of Product Management for Life Sciences is responsible for determining and driving an aggressive & profitable growth strategy in Life Science business area of Andor and by extension be a critical contributor to life science strategy at Oxford Instruments. This will be achieved through Job-To-Be-Done style market research and close working with Engineering, Marketing Communications and the Sales organisation. This will be executed though a team consisting of Product and Business Managers.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have pronounced strategic analysis aptitude and proven track record. They will take overall responsibility for the life science strategy including development of a long-term product/NPI road map including project prioritisation. They will have responsibility for determining and driving the strategy across a broad range of Life Science markets where Andor operate today, to identify appropriate prime markets for specific focus and to identify new markets for expansion either through organic growth or acquisition.
Leveraging their technical /application fluency, the successful candidate will have management responsibility for a team who will deliver full life cycle management, positioning, competitive intelligence and new product delivery, ensuring we maximise revenue and profit growth from our Life Science business.
Working closely with the Service Product Manager, they will drive a step change in adoption of service products, e-Commerce and growing profit through driving increased focus and execution relating to recurring revenue based products.
They will oversee and develop the marketing communications plan to generate the required sales leads, including proposition/message development, media relations, e-marketing and events.
Reporting relationship is to Product Management Director. Can be expected to interface very frequently with Andor board and other senior team members within Oxford instruments.
- Technically fluent, so whilst not expert in multitude of techniques will be able to absorb key aspects, success criteria, risks and opportunities rapidly and effectively
- Established leadership credentials- role will involve oversight of technical and tactical aspects of product management in Life Science Business area.
- Direct line management of the existing Life Science (Imaris, Dragonfly, Cameras & Components) product management teams
- Assist with the identification and evaluation of acquisition opportunities
- Establish clear and effective working relationships and communications with Sales and Engineering teams as well as all other business functions to improve overall performance.
- Maintaining communication with their peers across Andor and Oxford Instruments especially in markets which utilise the same or similar products/technologies.
Person Specification (essential requirements unless stated):
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or Equivalent in a Science or Engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years Market Experience which can include relevant university research experience
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- The successful candidate is likely to have worked in senior role for major equipment/solution provider in Life Science space and have significant business to business experience.
