Hard X-ray Imaging of Biological Soft Tissues symposium
Posted by FocalPlane, on 20 August 2021
The Francis Crick Institute is hosting the 2nd edition of ‘Hard X-ray Imaging of Biological Soft Tissues symposium’ on Thursday 14 October 2021, 12:00-18:35 BST.
This is a half day virtual meeting organised by Carles Bosch, Lucy Collinson, Elizabeth Duke, and Andreas Schaefer. Leading scientists in the field will highlight the questions currently being addressed using hard X-ray imaging techniques, volume electron microscopy and their combination with other imaging modalities, with a forward look to areas of opportunity becoming accessible as a result of the recent and upcoming synchrotron upgrades.
The program includes:
- Correlative multimodal imaging approaches using hard X-rays
- Limits of X-rays when imaging soft tissues
- X-ray modalities giving 20nm-10um detail across 10um-cm 3D landscapes
- Sample prep and large-scale volume EM
- Round table to explore what are the bottlenecks
Confirmed speakers:
- Darren Batey, Diamond Light Source
- Anne Bonnin, PSI TOMCAT
- Carles Bosch, Francis Crick Institute
- Si Chen, Argonne National Laboratory
- Ana Diaz, PSI cSAXS
- Kara Fulton, CAESAR
- Moritz Helmstaedter, MPI Brain
- David Kastner, UCSF
- Alexandra Pacureanu, ESRF
- Tim Salditt, DESY
- Yannick Schwab, EMBL
