Exciting news to share with you all!
The UK Euro-BioImaging Node has been awarded £1.8 million in strategic funding from UKRI-BBSRC and UKRI-MRC over five years. This transformative investment will significantly expand access to cutting-edge imaging technologies for UK researchers.
What this funding will deliver:
- Expanded biological imaging – more sites and technologies with improved geographical coverage
- New biomedical imaging capabilities – incorporating MRI, PET/CT, pre-clinical and clinical imaging for the first time
- Enhanced user access – dedicated funding to break down cost barriers
- Technical staff development – training and networking opportunities for imaging professionals
- Stronger industry partnerships – particularly supporting SMEs and start-ups
- Open science advancement – dedicated Data Steward support for FAIR data sharing
This builds on our strong foundation: 14 facilities across 7 UK sites already serving 200+ external users and producing 134+ scientific publications in 2023 alone.
How can you get involved? We’ll be presenting the UK Node upgrade plans in more detail at the BioImagingUK meeting on 30 June in Manchester. Registration is still open for this free meeting. The slides will be available on the BioImagingUK website afterwards, and all opportunities to get more involved will be communicated over this email list.
How you can help us spread the word:We’d be grateful if you could help amplify this announcement through your networks! Sharing this news helps ensure it reaches researchers who could benefit from these expanded imaging opportunities.
