FocalPlane features… data management
Posted by FocalPlane, on 23 September 2024
The fourth webinar in the latest series of FocalPlane features… was on data management. Caterina Strambio De Castillia introduced us to the topic of research data management, while Tom Boissonnet discussed how to use OMERO from the perspective of a group leader, a microscopist and an image analyst. We wrapped up the webinar with a short talk from Maria Mirza (Euro-BioImaging) on foundingGIDE, a project aiming to develop a Global Image Data Ecosystem (GIDE). You can sign up for updates from foundingGIDE here and join the first foundingGIDE community event on 31 October – 1 November 2024 (registration for virtual attendance is open until 30 October).
Thanks to all the speakers for fantastic talks and to the audience for their questions. The Q&A session with Caterina and Tom is included in the recording below.
If you are just getting started in OMERO, check out the OMERO training videos here. For further help with OMERO, you can ask questions and search in the OMERO channel on image.sc. In addition, image.sc has a data management category.
In the Q&A part of the webinar, we had an additional question about the integration of OMERO with Napari, you can find the answers below.
Q: Thank you for all this great information. Is there a plan to develop an OMERO plugin for Napari?
https://github.com/tlambert03/napari-omero
TB: there is a plugin (see link), but it’s looking for a maintainer
Christian Schmidt: As pointed out, for napari, the functional interaction with OMERO is still limited, but there is connectivity. Here is an overview of image analysis connections with OMERO: https://zenodo.org/doi/10.5281/zenodo.10203283
Our next FocalPlane features… webinar is on the related topic of reproducibility with talks from Helena Jambor and Kota Miura. You can register here.
