FocalPlane features… cell migration recordings with Juan Manuel Garcia Arcos, Yohalie Kalukula & Daniel J. Cohen

Posted by , on 18 June 2026

In June, we hosted the first webinar in our new series on emergent models and quantitative analysis of cell migration, hosted by Pablo J. Sáez and Valeria Venturini. We heard talks from Juan Manuel García-Arcos on ‘Mapping live membrane tension during cell migration using Flipper-TR FLIM’, Yohalie Kalukula on ‘The actin cortex acts as Mechanical Memory of past confinements’ and Daniel J. Cohen on ‘What sheepherding can teach us about cell migration’.

You can find the recording of the talks below.

00:00 Introduction to the series from Pablo J. Sáez
02:45 Juan Manuel Garcia-Arcos (EPFL – Swiss Federal Technology Institute of Lausanne), Mapping live membrane tension during cell migration using Flipper-TR FLIM
25:15 Yohalie Kalukula (Max-Planck-Zentrum für Physik und Medizin), The actin cortex acts as Mechanical Memory of past confinements
42:00 Daniel J. Cohen (Princeton University), What sheepherding can teach us about cell migration

The next webinar in the series will be on Thursday 17 September at 15:00 BST. Sign up to our mailing list to stay up-to-date about our FocalPlane features… webinars.
